National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a national level scholarship program (Exam) conducted by NCERT (National Council of Education Research and Training) to identify Talent (pratibhā) and nurturing them for the betterment of the nation. There are 2 stages of this scholarship examination. Stage 1 is conducted by a state authority or board and Stage 2 is conducted by NCERT itself.
Every year, the Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam organizes the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Stage I exam to award and facilitate successful candidates of this exam with a scholarship.

Medium of exam: English and Hindi
Duration of exam: 120 minutes
Amount of scholarship: A total of 1000 aspirants are eligible to receive the below-provided scholarship & selection will be as per their merit.
- Class-XI to XII: Rs.1250/- per month
- Undergraduates and Post-graduates: Rs.2000/- per month
- For Ph.D. is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.
Date of result announcement: 17th June 2021, 11 AM
